On behalf of our Government client(Government of Alberta), DataEaver is currently searching for a Senior Technical Architect.
Overview:
Cloud Platform Services supports the Government of Alberta's (GOA) fully integrated Cloud products Cloud landing zones and M365 services, facilitating collaborative and efficient work environments for APS staff delivering programs and services to Albertans. The Senior Technical Architect plays a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, developing, documenting, and delivering Microsoft Power Platforms, multiple M365, and Cloud-related projects and services. Reporting to the Director, Cloud Platform Services, this role involves managing other team members and providing architectural governance as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and evaluate latest technology trends.
Architect new IT services, develop solution papers, and test plans.
Evaluate current services and recommend remedial actions where required.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on proof of concept and limited production rollouts.
Provide quality control on production implementations.
Communicate operation guidelines and policies to clients.
Review new services and technology requests by business area and assess their impact on the operational environment, giving recommendations for remediation.
Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and estimates pertaining to architectural deployment and services delivery.
Assist in developing task lists and resource assignments within the context of architectural planning and deployments.
Assist with the implementation of IT infrastructure.
Document technical recommendations and provide technical advice and guidance to management, operations, and project team members within shared IT services.
Ensure change management processes are followed.
Make recommendations to project team members regarding issues, risks, and client satisfaction.
Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
Education: Must meet or exceed one of the following combinations:
University graduation: Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), Information Technology (IT), or related discipline & 4yr related experience;
2yr diploma: CS, CE, IT, or related discipline & 6yr related experience;
1yr certificate: CS, CE, IT, or related discipline & 7yr related experience;
current active professional certification or accreditation in related discipline from a recognized issuing body & 7yr related experience.
6 years of experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting infrastructure and application solutions in an architecture capacity for an environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
1 year of experience developing on cloud platforms and utilizing cloud services in development and in solutions.
1 year of experience in IT infrastructure architecture and the relationships among the components that make up an IT service from end-user devices to servers, networks, storage, applications, and data.
8 years of experience supporting an enterprise IT environment.
8 years of experience working directly on-site with end-user troubleshooting technical computer-related issues including software and hardware.

5 years of direct involvement in developing best-practices documentation.
5 years of experience assisting clients to execute strategies with technology, process, organizational design, and IT operations.
3 years of experience in the completion of migration of applications and other technologies from one environment to another.
5 years of experience in defining technical architecture, building technical environments, supporting software development processes and initiatives, software configuration, and database management.
5 years of experience leading an organization through a large-scale technology change impacting all levels of the organization.
5 years of experience using MS Office 2010 products or higher versions.
5 years of experience working in or for the public sector.
